SIZING:
Rogue Territory jeans run true to size. Our fits are designed to sit on your hips, more than your waist, so please keep this in mind when you are referring to the size guides. All the denim we use is sanforized, which means that the fabric is pre-shrunk, so shrinkage after wash or hot soak is minimal. Approximately shrinkage can be 0.5”-1” in the inseam and 0.5” in the waist. Conversely, the denim will stretch 0.5”-1” in the waist. Please account for shrinkage and stretching when selecting your size. When purchasing raw denim, jeans should be snug when you first put them on. If you are concerned about the denim stretching and becoming too big in the waist, size down.
MEASURING:
There are a couple ways to go about measuring yourself or your jeans for sizing purposes.
1. Lay your jeans flat, it’s best if they are snug on you before measuring them, no use in measuring stretched out jeans! Be sure to line up the waistband so the front and the back of the jeans are flush with one another, then measure across the top of the band from side to side. Double this measurement.
OR 2. Measure yourself. Take your tape measure and measure around the top of your hips, approximately 4” down from your navel. Tape should sit right on top of the hips.
Please do not ask us to compare our sizing to other brands. Everyone’s sizing is different. Not to mention, we haven’t worn anything but our own jeans in years.
WASHING SUGGESTIONS:
Precursor – Raw denim is a beautiful thing. It’s meant to be worn often and rarely washed. You may think this is crazy, but there is a method to our madness. It’s all about creating your very own unique pair of jeans…this can only be accomplished by loving and caring for your jeans. Nobody likes to see flat, lifeless indigo jeans. This is what happens when you wash your jeans once or twice a week. We’re looking for contrast in the denim, whiskers, fading in the high-stress, high-impact areas. You can only achieve this by wearing your jeans often and washing them ONLY when absolutely necessary. A good goal to shoot for is not washing your jeans for at least 4-6 months. Here are some care instructions for your future works in progress.
DRY CLEANING – If you’re looking to maintain the overall color of your denim and minimize fade and shrinkage, this is the way to go. It also tends to be the least abrasive.
HOT SOAK – You can hot soak your jeans before and during your time wearing them. Doing a hot soak on your jeans before you wear them can help curb some of the bleeding that occurs with raw denim, it also helps with breaking in the denim. Some people like to put their jeans on while they’re damp, with the intent of molding the jeans to their body. Hot soaks during washes are crucial for killing the stink and getting the grime off your jeans without putting them through the harsh process of a full wash cycle. Hot soak for 45 minutes and hang dry. It’s that easy. Minimal shrinkage will occur. Hang dry ONLY.
WASHING MACHINE – Throw them in inside-out and with cold water and minimal detergent, the less chemicals that could potentially mess with the color of your jeans, the better. Hang dry ONLY.
If you must put the jeans in the dryer, use a tumble low setting. NEVER use the hotter settings on your dryer.
